Massage in the third trimester maintains the elements of the second trimester aimed at relieving aches and strains but also introduces preparations for childbirth using massage techniques, stretching and breathing exercises which help -
- Relieve aches and pains, especially in the
- weight bearing areas including lower back, pelvis and hips.
- Relieve leg cramps and 'restless limbs'.
- Lessen tiredness and promote better sleep.
- Reduce oedema or swelling of joints and limbs using
Lymphatic Drainage techniques.
- Encourage the baby into the correct foetal position
using gentle exercises.
- Emotional preparation for the birth
We can also involve your partner in preparation for the birth with mini-workshops to demonstrate labour massage and supportive techniques.
